Hey Ford guys. I m new to the Ford forum. I need info on the 897 holly carburator. Can t find one. Thank you RB

RB........uh, I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife. What kinda of info do you need? Funk's used a 6-cyl flathead engine from 49-52 pick'em-up. CAUTION: the carbie was designed onna slant, yer N-tractor carbie is level.......mindless Dell

Dell the funk's used the industrial engine. Manifold was level. When switching or repowering engines sometimes the truck engine was used. A simple wedge plate was used under the carb to straighten it out.

What kind of info do you need? How to repair, where to get parts, or where to find a complete replacement? What problem are you having? Tell us your problem and maybe we can help diagnose the issue.

Here is a tidbit I found on the web (see link). Pretty much all Funk conversions had the 226ci engine, which according to the link should have an 847 carb. The 847 and 897 are very similar and should take the same basic carb kit. All cars and light trucks from 1949 to 1951 should have the 847. The 254ci & 897 would have only been used in heavy duty trucks from the same time period.

If you search the web, manuals can be found free for the 847. Type in "Holley 847 Carb for 6-cylinder Ford's - 1950 Service Manual" in your search engine and the first hit will be a free PDF version of the 847 repair manual.
Holley 847 & 897 Difference

KCM I rebuilt this carb several years ago. I told the owner then i made no promises. It either needs replaced or sent to a professional for rebuild. I don t claim to a pro at anything not even sleeping lol. Would appreciate to be referred to apro rebuilder. Thanks guys much appreciated. Richard
