I have a conversion tractor that stopped running and finally got to start again but motor will not accelerate no matter if you pull gas lever all the way . Cleaned carb, distributor, changed plugs and also put new plug wires. Tractor was purchased with conversion all on tractor which includes 12 volt alternator, battery and electronic pointless pertronix unit. What else can I check ?

Ray........"what else can I check?".......uh, how about yer pointless pertronix unit??? I'm notta fan of pertronix, they suck fer the 4-nipple front mount dizzy like on yer 9N. 5-nipple side mount on 8N's seem to work fine. I'm notta aginst electronic ignition, I stick build one in 1963 fer my 1956 Dodge D-500 semi-hemi V-8. (cousin to the mighty Chrysler 300) I have CD-10 on my 1969 BMW 2002 that I picked up at the factory in Munich, it is now semi-retired and dyno-tuned fer 165hp vs 99hp original. It has 387K miles on it. I graduated to Dodge Cummins Diesel 'cuz my wife wanted to live in the country 'cuz the town attorney was going to fine us because of our barking dog. We were surrounded by 6-dogs and mine was the only one that barked. You believe that, I gotta bridge I'll sell you in Brooklin ...or... maybe the Tacoma Narrows Bridge across Puget Sound. Yer tractor engine won't rev so you clean and rebuilt yer carbie ...SMART... Now yer carbie is outta adjustment and you wonder why it won't rev? Learn to adjust yer carbie. Set yer down-pointing mainjet to 2-turns and LEAVIT!!! Adjust yer side-pointing idlemix fer FASTEST idle, NOT SMOOTHEST idle. Understand the difference??? Shuld be about 1/8-1/4 turn. Remember it idlemix is BASS-ACKWARDS. Out fer LEAN. IN fer ENRICH. About the ONLY thing ya mightta done correct was to change the sparkies. Recommend AutoLite 437's gapped 0.025. Sparkie wires seldom go bad ...BUT... they should be limp as a wet noodle. CAUTION: there are 2-kinds of sparkie wires: CARBON STRING wires fer yer BelchFire-V8 with computer controled ignition. You don't want them. You want the OLD FASHIONED copper core sparkie wires. (unless ya gotta computer on yer 9N) When I changed the sparkie wires on my eazy starting 6-volt 8N, my 9-yo son did it. (under adult suppervision of course) I went an gotta set fer HOT-ROD Chevy V-8 with right-angle booties to fit under the gas tank, cut to length. Simple, eh?........HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

have you manually goosed the carb? nothing?

if so.. manually goose the carb and add a little choke.. post back.

When you move the throttle lever, does anything happen to the sound of the engine?

Do the governor arms move at all?

Does the linkage from the governor to the carb move at all?

The front mount distributor was only cleaned of dirt and dust. The pertronix unit has no adjustment that I can see. Carb was not taken apart and rebuilt. I just took off top half and sprayed carb cleaner and blew top and bottom and all opening with air. No adjustments or screws or any parts were ever removed. Wire set is copper. Do you think maybe the governor needs cleaning or replacement?

Jim, the motor only runs like at idle. When running when the gas lever is pulled to accelerate the governor does move as before but no motor
acceleration happens.

orget the 'gas lever' for a moment & grab the rod connecting gov to carb. What does it do now?

Sound guy."... Did goose the throttle as you said but no difference in Engine running, won't rev motor ,regardless of what I try to do. Ray

Will try the rod to governor and see if it makes a difference. Thank you and all the others in the forum on this non reving 9n. Ray

No, I didn't say goose throttle, I said manually adjust carb butterfly.

NOT the throttle.. 2 completely different things. throttle controls governor. Butterfly controls carb.
