Inside the rockbox of 8n

I have taken off the rockbox to change out the lift cylinder and found other parts that need to be replaced. I have two other rockboxes to use for parts and am trying to dismantle them to get the parts I need. One question I have is, why is the control arm curved slightly forward on my original and the other two are straight? Does it make any difference which one I use? I have seen you tube videos of the rockbox being removed and the arm appears to be curved like mine.
Also I cannot get those lift arms off. Any tips?

Rockbox ????????????? Never heard of that. Are you talking about the top cover?

(quoted from post at 17:54:40 06/27/17) Yes the top cover is what I have removed. Any suggestions on how to remove the lift arms?

I rebuilt my top cover a few months ago. Replaced the upgrade piston, cam follower pin, relief valve and some other little stuff. Also replaced the control rod. You can see how much it was bent in the picture below. The replacement was perfectly straight. You can see the discoloration darker color towards the bottom of the rod where it is bent. It looks discolored due to being heated. Makes me wonder it it was straightened out then bent again. or some idiot heated it and bent it for who knows what reason.

I didn't have to remove the lift arms so had no trouble there. Why do you want to remove yours?

I was going to replace the bushings. Also the draft control arm is bent so I might end up swapping out the position control and draft control from one of the other covers. Which leads to the next problem. The shaft for the heavy control spring is also rusted into the yoke so I can't get the position control off. I have been using penetrating oil on all parts for the last 3 days. I tried my acetylene torch on the yoke of one of the spare covers and ended up snapping the shaft right at the yoke.

It is easier to remove the lift arms while the cover is bolted to the tractor . It usually requires a big hammer and hard swings . Sometimes heat does not help . On some , I have heated and oiled over a couple of days and noticed once removed that the oil did not penetrate very far . Some come off without much trouble .

Reassemble with anti seize on the lift arms and yolk .
