8N radiator

Picked up a jubilee today, got it home and, since it isn't running right now, had to pull it off my trailer with my '52 8N. The jub lift arm went through the 8N grille and radiator when I tried to stop it with the 8N bumper.

Can the radiator be repaired or do I write it off to poor judgement? Is an original, used radiator the way to go?

No way to know if your OEM radiator can be repaired without taking it to a good radiator shop (not likely) but it can almost certainly be recorred. If you do this, specify a flat-fin industrial core.

Based upon experience, I'm not a fan of aftermarket radiators.

an it be repaired??? Obviously, no one can intelligently answer that question without knowing the damage! Myself, with a lot of time and patience & pounds of silver solder have repaired some "throw away" radiators, but I'm not just 'anybody'.

Pictures would help us answer your question somewhat better but only a reliable radiator shop will be able to determine if fixable or not. I bought an aftermarket radiator for my '48 8N years ago and it was a poor fit -cap scraped across the hood. I traded it to a guy for an original that I simply had re-cored and it is still working fine now after 15 years. Some aftermarket radiators are still garbage, some have fixed their problems, but my advice to you if your original is beyond repair is to find a used original on fleabay, buy it, get it restored, and have many years of trouble free days ahead -unless you go poking it thru lift arms and such... ; >)
