8n valve guide seal installation

Anyone have the secret to putting these valve seals on the guide without them breaking. And are they needed on the exhaust valves.

Not needed on exhaust guides--mine had em on all guides so I put em back on all of em..Lube em good with the slickest thing you can find-go slow and easy and they should go in w/o breaking-mine did..

Will they work if they are split. These seals I got are not going to go on in one piece. Either they are dry rotted or something. They will not expand enough to go over guide. I even heated them in oil. Still split. Maybe I should buy new ones. Could be a bad batch or something.

Yes u need to buy new ones-split ones will not do the job.
