It is finally done, my Dad's 1950 Ford 8n, that has been in the family since 1950. I have been working on this off and on for a long time, but really focused in on it the last 2 years. I just wish Dad was around to see it.
I wanted to thank all the people who took the time to answer my questions. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site, in the archives, and those willing to take the time to answer questions as they arise. I hesitate to name names, for fear of missing someone. but a big THANK YOU TO ALL.
I don't think I could have done this without this forum and the Paint and Bodywork forum. It is truly a great bunch of guys on here.

I have learned so much about these tractors. I love doing the mechanical work but the painting was a real challenge.

Here are a few before and after pictures.

our dad would be proud. Nice job!

That is realy nice. Thanks for posting. If you were near by,I would like to hire
you to do my fathers 1947 2n.

Den N Ms, I used PPG brand paint Omni AU (MTK)
Red 70075
Gray 32675
Aluminum 8568
The tractor was stripped to bare metal (and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more) and primed with Omni MP series epoxy
MP282 High Build 2K primer surfacer was used on the sheet metal and sealed with a coat of epoxy and then the gray.

Thanks Zane. I don't know if you remember or not but I got one of your jigs and was still having trouble and we talked on the phone.
Ended up being a piece linkage was bent. Works perfectly now.

Looks like you have done a wonderful job on the 8n. These tractors seem to have a addictive quality about them.. I love their simplicity..

great job,
question about the before picture,

what were those brackets used for that are hanging from in front of the clutch/brake petals?

They were for a 5 foot belly mount sickle mower. Dad used to mow the sides of the streets and vacant lots for people in the 60's and many of time I got to transport the tractor and mower with Dad following in the car. Real treat for a kid to get to operate the tractor. Good memories.

I have mowed many acres with one of those, They were a great mower, easy to see, didn't have to look back, but they were a lot of fun to take off and put back on. Sold mine a couple of years ago, I had a lot of spare parts too.

Here is a link to a post I made about paint prep. The final wipe down was with PPG Wax and Grease Remover DX330, many times and I do mean many times until a white rag came back clean. Lots of work
Prepping for paint
