8n head gasket

Just curious what you guys think. I have a milled head and was wondering if I should use metal or fiber head gasket on an engine I'm restoring.

I usually try spend as little money as possible but on the head gasket I will gladly buy a Fel-Pro 7277B head gasket . Most parts stores can get them around $16 on their next truck at about or $17 shipped from ebay .

You can also get a one piece neoprene front seal to replace the front rope gaskets , not available for the rear .

I have used both, I have had the best luck with the Fel Pro.

The one piece front seal is for a Model A Ford. It works fine on a Model A only if you have crank pulley with no wear. The rope seal will swell to compensate for slight wear in the pulley, but that one piece rubber seal has no tolerance for wear. I expect the same would be true for an N pulley.

I would not argue with that . You should inspect your seal surface for wear . You probably do not have wear from a previous neoprene seal and if you have excess wear from a rope seal you should buy a replacement steel pulley . I think they are about $30 - $35 .

Put a fel-pro on it life will be good... I would not have a problem with the 3 options... Fel-pro is the best I can do so will settle with the best I could do ...

If I remember right my Dad's pulley had been sleeved-worked good with the
neoprene one piece seal.
