8n paint spray

I was wondering if anyone has used a spray gun to paint an
8n with only a 3 gal air compressor. I know it's not
recommended, but was wondering if it could be done.

Thanks

If you're using an HVLP paint gun it could be done.
You would want to paint the sheet metal in smaller
groups and drain any water from the tank regularly.

Take your time, mix the paint as you are ready to use it,
but make sure you have enough paint of the same batch
to complete the entire job so the color will match.

I used to get extremely frustrated trying to paint cars
with a 20 gallon tank, 5 HP, ~9 SCFM compressor.
Water/condensation was the killer for me then.

I painted these parts today. Didn't turn out too bad.
Even though I was too lazy to clean the floor first.

Mike.........heres 'nutter idea. Use a short nap wall roller fer yer sheetmetal. No thining like ya haffta do fer spray painting. As fer yer castiron stuff, 2"-brush. Never see brush streaks. M-2822 vermillion (red); M-13243 medium gray (PPG-32675) Numbers I got from the MPC (master parts catalog)........painter Dell, who likes 20-20 paint jobs (look good at 20-ft or 20-mph)

Never tried it but if I was going to I would come up with at least a 20 gallon auxiliary air tank for a little reserve capacity and paint a piece at a time. Low humidity is your friend or some way to deal with moisture in air line.

Thanks. I think I will brush paint the cast. And roll the rest.

Does the roll method on the sheet metal and rims leave lines??

Thanks

Mike..........no lines that I ever noticed. Like I said, I'ma 20/20 painter........painter Dell

The ONLY thing I've ever noticed is ...BUGS... like to gitt caught in fresh paint. Let the paint dry a week (?) and a razor blade fixx'em up, eh? Little polish and nebber know ett ever happened
