I had one of those moments today!

I was slowly idling down to the bank I was going to knock down today with my box blade, and the tractor just died. It turned over and wouldn't start. I first thought I may have flooded it! I had the gas valve opened about 3 turns and I was just poking around at a idle. I took the plugs out and they all looked good, but I cleaned them and put them all back in still it turned over, and no crank! This time I pulled the choke and it hit a lick. So I tried it again with the choke and it ran as long as I had the choke pulled. I got it back to the shop.

Last week I put a new manifold gasket on it. Apparently I had not adjusted the carburetor after the repair. So I set the carb back to Dells original specs. it fired up and idled. A few more slight adjustments and I went back down, and she worked like a champ! I have the bank ready for grass seed now, and we can cut with the riding mower.

Congratulations on getting it to run fro you again. I hope that it continues to run well, but the gremlins may yet return. It sounds like an intermittent fuel blockage. It is possible that you have crud meandering around in your gas tank, or a rust particle at the entrance to the cab intake fitting. Just for future reference in getting help. Cranking is what the starter does to the motor, and when the motor is cranking and the spark ignited the gas, that is firing. Turning over is what happens when you go on too steep a sidehill.
