My question is this:

Do new (actually nos) spindles need to be milled down to fit
new bushings? Or is it comman practice to have the
bushings sized?
The bushing fits just fine on top of the spindle. But the Bottom
of the spindle is kinda flared out. So it's thicker than the top.
Spindle Won't even fit in the old worn out bearing.

NO! Why would you butcher up a part? They are a tight fit yes but be sure you have the correct bushings too. What did you get and where did you get them? It does matter...

TPD

Later model Fords used the same size upper bushing @1.25" id but upgraded to a 1.340 id on the bottom .

(quoted from post at 17:29:32 05/28/17) Yes. These spindles are thicker at the bottom. How late are
we talking about here.

I also have a Ford 3000 and noticed they use the same top bushings . Look in the parts department on this site for a 3000 and it will list other models the bigger lower bushings also fit . I am not familiar with the hundred series so I can not give you a good year range .

(quoted from post at 18:12:05 05/28/17) Yes. But what you are saying is that it definitely does not go
on the 8n with the different top and bottom of spindle?

Correct , it will not fit a 9N , 2N , or 8N .

I believe some of the later (3000 , others ) has long and short shafts also , This may help id your spindle if you are trying to sell it .
