Ford 8n sqaure can coil to round

I am in process of converting square can coil to round .i have jmor pics of wiring and such thanks.i would like to put spark plug in top of sqaure coil.i read i could turn down with lathe i have no lathe any other options. Guting can was not fun the first one was some kind of rubber material the second was tar much easier.

biggie.......dunno where yer comming from. Yeah the 4-nipple squarecan dizzy kenn gitt confuzing. The points (0.015) are designed to be replaced on the kitchen table. (seriously) just un-snapple the capple and walk. Installation is a reversal of the removal ...except... finger start the 2-bolts and putt-onn the rotor. Rotate the rotor until the OFF-SET tang fit the OFF-SET drive slot and now tighten the 2-bolts. 'cuz ittza OFF-SET drive scheme, ya kent gitter outta time. Now re-snapple yer capple. Simple, eh? OH yeah, remember to stick the corner of $1-bill (cheap) between the points (0.015) and PULL. Polish the INVISIBLE CORROSION from between the points........HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

This site sells a terminal kit with a spark plug looking terminal threaded on one end . #1247XTTERM for $17.49

Or you can soldier one end of a copper core plug wire to the top side of the terminal inside the hollow coil .

Keep in mind that the square coil is held on with a bail and anything sticking up on the front half of the coil will be in the way of fastening the bail wire .

I fabricated a terminal that pointed out of the front of the square coil . After building and installing I found it cleared the fan blade by only 1/8 inch .

Bigbleeker,This is what I have done first one about 30 years ago, many since, if you have your coil cleaned out(the hard part),why don't you just solider a length of copper core plug wire to the front terminal inside the coil. Then drill a hole in the top side of it to the rear of the bail to run the coil wire to the round coil, secure the coil wire with a wire tie inside around the wire so it dosen't pull out of the hole and seal it up with some silicone. Also solider a wire inside to the the pig tail connection and drill a small hole to run it out of the square coil to hook to the points side of the round coil. A good conversion, you'll be glad you did it.

solider a wire inside to the the pig tail connection and drill a small hole to run it out of the square coil to hook to the points side of the round coil.I made a mistake, I soliderd a wire short wire inside to the the pig tail connection and to the top lug post inside of the coil top for connection to the coil.

I see others install behind bail wire next to stud in back of coil.i will order the spark plug adapter from here.

Heres mine, I drilled a hole in the square coil and took the tower off the round coil and just ground it down on the bend top belt sand until it fit. A little epoxy filled in the rest.

I did a similar conversion about 30 years ago too, Last year the machine started running a bit odd. Seemed like spark so I thought I should check the coil, opened it up and found 1/2' of water sloshing around inside. Drained it and all is well. I figure I should make a note on the calendar to check it in another 29 years, before it can become a problem.
