Is this the 1.1L version of the Kent engine first introduced in 1959 and used in various displacements for over 25 years in a gadzillion different Ford products? If so it was a very popular race engine and I would think both new and used cylinder heads would be readily available:

Where is the crack ? In a critical area ? Maybe it could be welded over the leaking stitch ?

Is it possible that the overheating is causing the crack and NOT the crack causing the overheating ?

You might want to talk to these folks:

They appear to have 1.3L replacement engines and spare service parts for the 1.1L.

This is a link to some service and identification information that may also help:

Tom -- My son bought a skid loader with that engine--good luck finding parts. he looked for a year for a starter before he found a guy who could repair the one he had. local starter repair shops wouldn't touch it. I posted on here and many other farm and industrial sites for 1 but got no response. He shut it off last fall and now can not get it to start. finally found some parts at an old dealership that had them on the shelf -- covered in layers of dust. Good Luck with yours.

Tom,That is a shame that the head was not repaired properly.Your repair guy should know that you can't cold weld a cracked head with a wire welder and expect it to hold.He needs a foot put where it don't belong for all the problems he has caused you.Your over heating is compression getting in the cooling system and blowing the coolant out because of the crack. That crack has to be repaired using a furnace and someone that knows how to repair it like Chapin Cylinder Head and Block, they have repaired several for me in the past and do quality work.It could have been repaired with lock and stitch before trying to weld it but now the cast has been hardened and I'm not sure it can be repaired with lock and stitch method. The good cylinder heads for that 1.1 Ford industrial are just about non obtainable. At one time Tennant was buying all the used 1.1 engines they could find for parts but I don't think they have any more since they discontinued the ford engine and went to a GM engine. The Ford 1.1 were also used in a lot of commercial chippers /shredders.
There is a used 1.1 on ebay in Ridgway, Colorado with free shipping ,but he must know it is scarce and it is not a cheap price.

Thanks Everyone...will contact the head repair guy tomorrow..Bet je won't try to stand good for his work but we'll see..He claimed from the beginning that he was sending it off somewhere for the special heating/treating-whatever to get it done right, We will see..My recommendation is going to be to sell the sweeper for scrap and lease one..
