OT - When it rains, it pours

My nephew fell asleep yesterday morning on his way to work
and rolled his truck several times. He will be in a neck brace
for a few months, but is expected to make a full recovery.

This is him on a political campaign with my old F-20 a few
years ago and some pictures of what's left of his truck.
I'm thankful he wasn't hurt worse.

WOW!

A hard lesson but you can bet that lesson will last his whole life.

I hope he fully recovers and that the main part of his treatment is from Physiotherapists rather than Chiropractors.

When I had a whiplash I learned a ton from an elderly blind physiotherapist about the difference.
Everyone around here spoke of him as though he were a miracle worker.

I hope he fully recovers too Terry.
He's only 19, so he bounces far better than I would!
He has vertebrae fractures in C5 and L2 I think it was.
Still managed to climb out the windshield, find his cell phone
and call the police. Then made it back to the road where a
good Samaritan helped him until the professionals arrived.

He'll definitely be sore for a while, but he's alive.
Has a nice bruise across his chest from the seat belt too.
At least it kept him in the truck.

Good Grief, reminds me of what Leslie's 'Ford exploader' looked like, after 6 to 7 rolls.
He was lucky, in that!!!

Thank goodness he had his seat belt on,it saved his life! Not 1 straight piece left on that truck, that's what I call totaled out.Lucky young man not to be hurt more than he is.

wow, glad to hear his prognosis is good. that bruise on his chest is worth everything.

I agree Den. He'll probably hate me for posting this pic, but...
He was up and walking this afternoon.
His sister on the right is carrying the collector that is keeping
fluid off his lung so he is able to breath. Once they can remove
that tube, they'll let him go home to recuperate.

WOW! It's amazing what a person can live through!

My brother flipped a TR7 end over end (he had just that day completed a full restoration of it). He woke up a couple of days later in the hospital without much wrong. After they discharged him, one of his first stops was the body shop where the car was sitting running up storage fees. When the owner's wife found out he was outside looking at the car, she came running out to take a picture of him standing next to it. That went up on their bulletin board display of before and after shots with the caption "He Lived!"

Your nephew needs a picture like that as a reminder that he's used up a rather large chunk of luck.

Wow!! that is a bad wreck. Even worse that when I went off the highway and down through trees into a ravine. The trees cushioned my fall. All I got was a bruise on my forehead from my fire helmet.

DAYUUMMM!!!! Looks like a total of about a full square foot of straight metal left.
Good luck to the kid on his road to recovery.

Holy buckets! Someone was looking out for him. And thank you, Ford! I'm glad to hear that your nephew will be working many future political campaigns.

One last update, he got to come home from the hospital today.
He's one sore young man and likely will be for a while, but he's alive.
Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers!
