I bought this tractor as a parts tractor 6 yrs ago but it ran well so I decided to fix it up it needed some bearings in the tranny and the hydraulics didn't work, the hydraulic problem turned out to be a gutted pump body. It must have frozen at some time and broke the pump housing all the guts had been removed so I found a used pump at a flee market for cheep and it worked great. It needed a new rear rim and tire which I also found used at a flee market. I threw some paint at it and have run it ever since, I named it Mr. fixit, the paint job is a 20-20 as Dell would say but I am ok with it. So now I finally broke down and replaced the P.Os hokey 12v conversion with a 12v square coil and oem resister. I am including some pictures of the old modified coil and cap, the round coil was mounted on one of the oil filter bolts. About 6 months ago I was whining here about points that wouldn't open up to .015 so I had to file the slot and tweek them to align. Well while I had it all apart I found an old set of points and put them on and was able to adjust to about .030 with no trouble, I tossed the new but bad points in the trash and put on a new set of blue streak points and was able to adjust them to .015 and way over as well. Fired it up and it runs like a champ. What bothers me is the bad points were supposedly blue streak that I bought from this sight in a kit that claimed blue streak points. The new ones are also from this sight but not in a kit just the points alone so that's the way I will buy from now on no more kits.

Methinks you were better off with the hokey coil. Ida just done a better job rigging up the wire to the distributor.

I think they make kits for that.
