Ammeter to volt meter

(quoted from post at 15:06:27 05/09/17) I have a 1951 8n that has a 12 volt conversion and was wondering if I can change the ammeter to a volt meter?
ure.

Hold own to that voltmeter it will come in handy when you need to trouble shoot issues with the electrical/charging/starting system...

A amp meter is of little to no help you call its your eye candy...

The ammeter is of plenty of help when troubleshooting your charging system. arguably way more usefull than a volt meter.. the catch is.. you just have to understand what the ampmeter tells you.

Diagnosing a charging system about the only time a amp meter is needed is to determine that the alt is capable of MAX OUTPUT... Dream on and beat your chest while keeping one eye on your amp meter it may impress others but not me...

When the charging circuit health is good the voltage will be at the high end of the scale and stable at ALL TIMES while the engine is operating what else do you have to dream up to confuse the issue. Very little of the amperage is used to charge the battery after its been satisfied, Seriously what can a cheap dash mounted amp meter tell you when it reads a few amps are less and more so ZERO amps when you have a issue... Study up I will wait...
