3 pt Disc Setup

This is my first time setting up or using my tandem 3 pt disc and I'm not sure the proper way to set it up initially. Do I want the front and rear gangs even/level or do I need to pitch it one way or the other? I'm leaning towards pitching it to the rear, so that the rear gang sits two inches or sow lower than the front when it is off the ground, is this a correct assumption? I will be working sandy river bottom soil discing up a garden that has been in production and rototilled through last growing season plus an additional 2 passes of sod busting.

Front gangs lower than rear means cut deeper. Opposite means less cut & perhaps a bit more leveling.

It takes some practice by setting the pitch via the top link. You'll see. Excessive ridging or furrowing by the front gangs is remedied by adjusting the top link longer or shorter, and/or with the lift control raising or lowering the implement to compensate depth, depending on the scenario. Soil condition matters too.

On new ground that's just been plowed or if I'm just cutting up small brush I will sometimes shorten the top link untill the rear gangs are completely off the ground. It will really cut then. Then I will lengthen the top link to set the disc level again and make a couple of rounds. Does a nice job of finishing that way.
