Starter issue

'41 9N - Starter button and the starter push rod do not push the starter switch enough to close the circuit. Contemplating removing the upper steering gear housing to get into the mechanism. Any thoughts or caveats?? Starter switch is new and works fine off the tractor.

jimNtx ,If it works outside the mount,I have repaired the new/almost right starter switch to work by soldiering a small flat washer or two to the push end of the start switch. To extend it in some, so that the plunger has some extra push on the switch. Much easier than tearing into the shifter/steering box.Clean button top and washers parts shiny first and tin before soldiering.
