8N front mount cultivator

Has anyone ever seen a front mount cultivator for an 8N? I have one but I have no clue how it mounts. I
don't think any of the brackets are around here. My dad bought it with the 8N when he bought it new. I
never asked how it mounted and all he ever said was, it was a waste of money. There is a 2" pipe that
mounts to the front and rear axle somehow on each side of the tractor. On each side of the pipe, there is a
bracket where you would mount a shovel assy taken off the three point cult so there would be one shovel on
each side of the row. From there, there is a link that somehow mounts to the three point linkage to raise
the shovels. The shovels do not lift up and down. They rotate back to lift out of the ground. I would like
to mount this thing and take it to shows but, I would like some info, pictures or,literature to help get
this done. Appreciate any help.

Kenl,It sounds like a Carlson front mount, sold by Montgomery Ward.Or it could be a Dearborn spring shank front end cultivator.
You can find them at the other N site under manuals.

does it look like the picture attached: however the front cover of the manual does not give model number of the front mount cultivators.
but I am impressed, I have been around these old tractors all my life and I have never seen a set of front mount cultivators on a small ford tractor. I would get them set up on your tractor, bet you would be the only guy at the shows with a set of front mount cultivators on a 8N.

I had a set of front mount cultivators on a D 14 AC, man did they do a fine job, you could see what you were plowing

Thanks for your reply but, mine are totally different. Looks like yours mounts totally on the front axle. Mine has the 2" pipe between the front and rear axle which hold only two shanks. One for each side of the row.

Thanks for your reply. Mine is a totally different set up. Mine has the 2" pipe that goes from the front axle to the rear axle with one shank on each side of it with another bar that somehow mounts to the three point arms to swivel the shanks.

Thanks for all your replies. The pictures you guys sent are of a totally different type of cultivator. In the next day or so, I will try to get a picture or two and try to post them. I've never done pictures before so, I don't know if it will work or not. Thanks again

Kenl, my dad bought a Ferguson TO-30 new in 1952. He also purchased a new set of 2-row equipment including a front mounted cultivator, planter (corn, cotton, and milo), and buster. The color of the equipment was blue. I still have some of the parts of the front mounted frame and planter boxes and plates. A 6 ft long 3-point mounted toolbar (2 1/4 x 2 1/4) was included. The toolbar was used for track plows and as part of the lift linkage for the front mounted assemblies. The cultivator shanks are sweep type with trip springs.

Your description sounds similar to some of the parts that I have. I am just now starting to look for information about these things. I have a Ferguson TO-20 now that I plan to get running for my grandson to learn to drive. Any info would be appreciated.
