ford 2000 loader issuses

I bought a ford 2000 and it came with a massey model 99 loader that had been on the tractor at one time. I put the loader back on and did replace the hyd valves and it works fine for a while then shears the bolts on the front shaft where it is coupled together. I've made sure it's lined up but it still does it. The motor rotation and the arrow on the pump are going opposite directions.Could this have been working before the loader was taken off? Or is my pump shot?

What sort of coupler are you using on the shafts?

Each shaft has a flat 2 bolt flange that takes a 5/16
bolt and a metal coupler in between with a rubber
bushing where the bolt goes through. And I'm using
grade 8 bolts

Odd - I would think you would tear the bushings out of the coupler before you shear a bolt. Can you post a picture of the setup and in particular the coupler?

"The motor rotation and the arrow on the pump are going opposite directions"

could be your problem, what kind/make is the pump?

TODD-L........uh? So you don't think arrows going in OPPOSITE directions mean ennythang, do you??? And yer shearing bolts???........sheesh!!! When I was in basic training I hadda carry a ROCK inna my LEFT hand to tell the difference as the drill sargent counted cadence. Do I need to make you carry a rock??? Then you ask iff'n yer pump is shot. Iff'n it wasn't before, it probably is now.......the amazed Dell

I thought about that briefly. Problem is it was working previously and I can't see how he could reverse the pump by taking it off and putting it back on......

As for the rotation being backwards I would wonder if the inlet and outlet on the pump has been switched. If the pump was shot it would not have worked at all. As for the shearing of the bolts I would want to check the pressure with a gauge to make sure you have a relief valve in the system and it is set properly.

"Could this have been working before the loader was taken off?"

yeah my thought also, that's why I ask what brand of pump. Some can be reversed rather easily, Vickers pumps come to mind.

It's a gear drive type pump had a mechanic buddy
look at it and it's been switched so the rotation is
right but he thinks it's got to much pressure so going
to put it back together and back the pressure off and
see what happens
