Dowden foot throttle for the 8N

I love the foot throttle on my MF202. I'm thinking of putting this Dowden foot throttle on my 8N. Does anyone else have one on their 8N?

On the MF202, you can set the hand throttle to any speed you want and just cruise along slowly or use the foot throttle to accelerate to any speed over what the hand throttle is set for.

Does the Dowden set up work the same way or does it just replace the hand throttle? Looking to get some info before I shell out the bucks. Any known problems with it? It's the one from Redrock.

Years ago, I had an 8N that had an original Dowden, and it worked well. Wish I still had it, but "life" gets in the way sometimes.

Red Rock claims there's is an exact repro.

As to your question, "does it just replace the hand throttle?" you must not have looked at their website?

"Exact replica of the very rare ?Dowden Foot Feed,? the foot throttle does not affect the operation of your hand throttle."
SOURCE, gotta scroll just below halfway down.

Once you have a foot throttle, you will wonder how you ever could have gotten along without it.

As I said, I have one on the Workbull. That's why I don't want to get along without one on the 8N.

And Bob, thanks for answering my question.

Does your Workbull have a Perkins A152 diesel engine?

If so, I have 3 NOS MF injectors that will fit it.

Thanks but, it has the four cylinder Continental gas engine.

Good morning "Dean"

I run a Massey Ferguson (daily user) FE 35 X with a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel...A3.152.

Tractor S# SNMY320137......( my family purchased new in 1963)

Could you please check the CODE LETTR stamped on the INJECTORS:

EG. "DA" "DB":

Here's a picture of the area that the "CODE" is STAMPED:

Possibly there's other IDENT: info on Injectors? Such as Numbers?

My e-mail is open:

Thank you:

I have an original one on my 52 8N. Dad bought it new, now I have it. it does work good. as a kid dad would say don't move the throttle past this point, never did. used the foot one

I have a Dowden on my '52 8N loader tractor. It has been on there about 10 years. I'm so used to NOT having one (about 50 years)
on my '51 8N, when the loader was on it, I forget it is there.

Message sent, Bob.

Send me an email directly and I'll send you a photo. I will need to find the injectors to get the codes and numbers. I'll find them sometime later today.

I put one on my NAA and removed it. My tractor is dedicated to its 6' squealer so the hand throttle works best. Same speed all day.

Just curious here. On their website it says the foot throttle will not interfere with the operation of the hand throttle. So, why did you remove it? There must have been something you didn't like about it.

What is a squealer?

Squealer = Bush Hog brand 6' medium duty shredded.

I removed it because I didn't use/need it as I mow all day at same rpm. It went because it was where I put my foot. In the way. Itsaround here somewhere.
