2N hydraulics

I recently did the rebuild on the 2N hydraulics. I got the drooping arms to stop drooping, but it still doesn't lift much weight, not more than 100 lbs or so. I did notice there's a lot of sludge in the pan. I'm going to drain it, take off the pan and clean it next, but someone told me there is one or more screens or filters in it somewhere. I haven't located them. Does anyone know where they are, or have any suggestions why the thing won't lift any weight? It's a 1946, and I love it. I just wish it would lift better.

The whole pump drops, no pan.
I use an ATV floor jack similar to a transmission
jack. If you want to clean the sump you can use a garden sprayer with diesel. I preferred to drop the pump and cleaned by hand without rebuilding the pump itself. To drop the pump, remove the PTO shaft since it runs through
the pump to operate it when engaged.
So how did you "rebuild" the hydraulics if you still
have sludge?
You worked the lift cover, piston, etc from the top?
Replaced the pressure relief valve?
Checked for leaks through inspection cover?
Have you mastered the linkage operation with the control valve and have good spring tension with forks and proper quadrant touch control adjustment?

Did you rebuild top and bottom or just the top cylinder portion? If you
did the bottom u already know there is no pan as such on the bottom of the
hydraulic pump--what looks like a pan is part of the pump so be prepared to
catch the pump on top of a floor jack-about 55 pounds if I remember
right...dont forget to disconnect your T-bone hydraulic linkage from the
hyd valve bfore u start removing bolts on the bottom of the pan,,not hard
to do, just be careful to not get a face full of oil and some missing
teeth...some folks back their tractor up on car ranps to be able to get
under there and have better arm leverage...HTH
