Neighbor's father passed away 10 or so years ago. His son brought me over his old chainsaw and said it does work and I can have it if I want it. I said sure.

It is a Stihl 015. Casting and carburetor says July 1974. I cleaned the points, rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the fuel line and the oiler lines. Starts and runs like new. From the looks of the saw, it hasn't been used much. Paint is still in the bar! Nice small saw.

Has a spare chain that I don't think has ever been used. Manuals and "tee tool".

Pretty good day!

very nice. good day indeed. and ya, from the looks of that bar, u might even be overestimating that prior use :)

Great find, thank that neighbor. I started my tree career in 83 or 84. I wish we had small saws like that back then. The smallest (climbing saw)
we had was about the size of a Stihl 026. They were Pioneer saws though. Smaller stuff we used a 20 inch handsaw. Man a wish that the
owner had a few of those for us to use back then. Don't abuse it, it's a classic.

Good for you. It's kind of fun working on stuff like that when you're not desperate to use it.

Thant's a very nice little saw. I keep that same size on my JD350D, sits on the arm rest over the tool tray.

Our resident wanna be mechanics are gunna burn yer chit to the ground for cleaning dem points...

My BIL and I brought a husqvarna 61 around 1980/82 new. My BIL put a claimer on anything we brought together he never would let me use it but he did cut what I wanted cut with it. His health was bad for the last 30 years he passed I brought it again a little while ago. I know for a fact it has not been ran in about 20 years. I dumped the fuel add new fuel it started right up and runs well.

I could buy the best one out there I wanted that one just because. I am sure you will cheeriest it just like the one I brought twice....

AND TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL EVEN BETTER. LOOK AT THE PRICE OF THE SMALL sTIHL
NEXT TIME YOU are at a dealer that sells Stihls--outrageously priced. When I
bought my 180C(I think thats what it is)I DIDNT KNOW THEY MADE A SMALLER
ONE but IF i HAD KNOWN, i WOULD NOT HABE PAID THE INFLATED PRICE---AND i
WOULDNT NOW EVEN THO THE LITTLEST ONE MADE IS all I need...

And that cleaning aint gonna work anyway 'cause he didnt drag that body
oil, greasy dollar bill through them--LOL

(quoted from post at 17:52:52 04/23/17) It's nice to see something repaired rather than junked. Good going.

Thanks. It was built when they were made well enough to actually repair them.

Thanks for all the nice comments fellows.

Nope....I used a new five dollar bill! LOL

I used my Stihl 015 on Saturday. Starts, runs and cuts great, but it doesn't look quite as good as yours. Did a new bar, a few chains and a new sprocket within the past year or two. The techs at my local dealer get a kick out of it when I bring it in.

While looking for a online manual for mine I ran across this.
Remove the clutch and grease the clutch bearing. I have never did dat did not know it was a maintenance item.

I found a 15L at a garage sale, along with an 08S like my dads, both proved to run. The 08S is not as nice as the one I got from my father. They reside on my saw bench until I have time. The 15L is in nice shape, case came with it, I look forward to making used of it for the small work.

Speaking of sawa---Stihl 180C -small saw-what u reckon the coil to flywheel
clearance is suppose to be? Guy I work with had saw problem--He tinkers a
good bit but wound up having to take it to a shop--Problem was coil to
FWheel gap was too small--that's all---to begin with I think coil had gone
out but when owner replsced it he got it too close...saw shop said minimum
of hd thou...

News to me. I will have to check that out. I have the complete service manual.
