I should have a manual around here for the 8n. Can't find it anywhere! Is there a torque rating for the big nut on the rear axle?

TG2.........the BIG 2-in nut on the 8N's axle is 2-1/2 grunts on 6-ft cheater bar. ...or... iff'n yer sphincterly challeged, 450-ft/lbs. Rent a 3/4-drive 600ft/lb torque wrench from tool yard. Remember, the axle nut is safety clipped too. Tighten to 450 and iff'n don't line up, back'em off a schoche. (technical term: schoche) Many times the nut has been chewed up by using a pipe wrench. tip: grab the top of the tire and push and rock'em, sidewize and watch the nut fer movement. Iff'n ya do, maybe a thiner or thicker flat washer, but most likely, ittza time fer NEW hub.........HTH, the tite Dell

There is, as said 450 ft lbs. Though without a torque wrench that goes that high, just tighten good and tight. Then drive around some and tighten again. Check one more time, then put in the clip.

(quoted from post at 09:33:42 04/21/17) I have a new hub,axle,washer,and nut.
Good time for a new clip also, as most old ones are either rusted out or broken off.

Last time I ordered YT parts I was told I had to buy like a dozen spring clips and couldn't buy just one or two.

I use a 3/4 drive socket on a breaker bar with a 4 foot pipe slid over the handle. Then I use about half of my weight on the end
of the pipe and call it good. Then I add or subtract to align the locking ring hole to the axle groove.

I also have the spring clip, seals, New bearings, and shoes.

Only the right wheel is about to fall off. Left side still good and tight.
