I ordered an oil filter for my 9N from eBay--"Vapormatic VPD5118", which was said to be right for 9Ns, etc.. So I got it; drained my oil; and took out the old filter--which turns out to be about a half-inch bigger diameter
than the new one. The new one seems to go on ok; the seal around the shaft in the middle seems ok. So shall I go ahead and put everything together and use her? Or might I destroy something, so I just had better order and wait
for a new on?
THANKS!

Everything I see says you will be fine. The main thing to me would be the length so that it seals at both ends. The difference in diameter means little.
That reminds me, I got two 8n's that need an oil change!

Thanks R. I did it, and she seems to run fine. I hope your oil changes went well too...

i know it's popular to diss TSC, but for some items, there's nothing wrong with them. i've not bought filters there, as my local auto parts store is price-competitive and a lot closer, but i'll go there for buckets of oil, parts for my old-style side discharge king kutter finish mower, chicken wire, etc. and i got a very nice five dollar fused headlight switch from them after someone here mentioned it.

If the filter is the same height. I would use it. The oil filtering system on 1940's era tractors did not work all the great to begin with.
