replacing gear shift pin; using punch to drive it out

Which direction should the pin be driven out? Sitting in tractor seat to the left or right?

I do not believe it makes any difference but I wish you luck in getting it out. Good chance are that it is frozen in place. I ended up replacing the complete top cover.
 

One end has a spline you want to drive it out from the other end. You will have to drive on it and look for the spline if you see it keep beating if not beat it from the other side. It will come out from either side but much EZ'er if the spline side comes out first that way you do not have to drive the spline the hole way....
