I wanted to be able to use a quick connect push button ORC on my 8N. My 1 1/8” PTO had no groove in it for one. So, I changed out the shaft to a 1 3/8” shaft and got the quick connect and it worked well. I also had a set of Pat’s Quick hitches on the lift arms that work quite well.
Well, I purchased another tractor, a MF202 Workbull. So I decided the workbull would be the box blade tractor and the 8N would stay the mowing tractor. So, I decided to remove the quick hitches from the 8N, since I wouldn’t be changing implements on it any more. I remove the hitches and went to hook the mower back up and discovered that my mower shaft now was about two inches too long. Just no way to get it on.
Well come to find out that the new 1 3/8” PTO shaft is an inch longer than the old 1 1/8” shaft was. And the quick connect ORC was like an inch and a half longer than the old ORC. The only way it worked was to put the Pat’s Quick Hitches back on it. They actually pushed the mower back about four inches and everything works.
Just be aware that if you change your PTO shaft the the bigger shafts are longer as well as the quick connect ORC being longer.
