Died suddenly

I was checking fences with the 9N yesterday evening when she died, like the key was turned off. It was almost dark so I didn't get a chance
to do much troubleshooting, and the tractor is still in the field. It will crank but not fire. It will smell like gas if I crank it with
the choke on, so it should be getting gas. I did find that power is going to the coil. I'll call the neighbor and tow it to the shed this
afternoon and have a look. Any suggestions?

Slider03.......it ain't chur carbie, ittza electrical. Remember the weird 4-nipple frontmount points (0.015) are designed to be replaced on the kitchen table. Just un-snapple the capple and remove the 2-bolts and walk. Installation is a reversal of the removal ...except... finger start the 2-bolts and twirl the rotor so the OFF-SET tang fits the OFF-SET slot in the camshaft. Then tighten the 2-bolts and re-snapple yer capple. Simple, eh? Remember to slip the corner of $1-bill between the closed points (0.015) and PULL. Polish the INVISIBLE CORROSION from between the points (0.015) Last thing, replace yer sparkies, ya FLOODED yer sparkies with additive filled gas. Recommend AutoLite 437's gapped 0.025. Don't throw yer FLOODED sparkies away, just clean'n'dry 'em one-atta-time in HOT running engine and save'um fer the next time. (and there will be a NEXT time)......HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Yeah, I concur it isn't a fuel issue, most likely electrical. If you smell gas when cranking and pull a plug or two and they're wet, it's getting gas. Have you checked for spark? Three things required to run; Fuel, Spark, and Compression. Concentrate on the first two for now. When was the tractor last run? Was it stored outside uncovered? Is it 6-volt or a 12 volt convulsion? How old is the battery? Was the battery fully charged? Let's start there...

Thanks for all the information. I was getting ready to tow it to the shed. I tried the starter one last time, and it started. I ran it for about ten minutes with no problems. Tomorrow I'll run it for about an hour and see if anything happens.

The next time it dies, check for spark right away.
