broken brake support plate repaired?

Could any of you guys please tell me how much the brake shaft pivot on back of an 8N brake support plate is supposed to turn?

I discovered that one of my brake support plates had a broken pivot, so I brazed it back together as shown in the picture. It probably broke because the pivot was frozen. So far I've only been able to get the pivot to turn back and forth maybe an inch. Is it supposed to turn more than that?

I'm hoping that I won't have to buy a new one.

It doesn't need to turn AT ALL. the ends of the shoes pivot a small amount AROUND it.

Mine broke too it only had two small tack welds holding it on. I put a good weld on it and works like new.
