Estimated Weight

I am looking at parts tractor that is in pieces except for the rear.

Any thoughts on what the estimated weight is of the transmission back from the bellhousing? Does not have a hydraulic pump, rims, or tires, or fluids.

I have a trailer I built that I am comfortable putting up to 1,000lbs on. I only need to move this tractor about a mile.

Hi Colin,

Just trying to think this out a bit.... rear wheel center discs are somewhat heavy, maybe 50 # each, maybe unbolt them. How do you plan to load this unwieldy load? Does the seller have a FEL to lift it onto the trailer? You could ramp it up with the help of a hand winch. The trailer may take a beating. Maybe you want to lay some scrap plywood or 2 X lumber of the trailer floor to prevent gouging from the sharp edges of the castings. Your F250 sure enough can carry the weight, and the size will fit. Besides one more dent won't even be noticed from 200 ft at 20 mph. The trailer might be strong enough, but the critical parts are the frame, springs, axle and tires. Most any trailer is capable of 1,000#, and even the lightest car tires should carry 1,000# each, so you are probably good.

My assumptions are that these parts are "N" parts.

Good luck with your acquisition.

If it doesn't have wheels your trailer should handle it. If it has wheels grab your boom pole and a sling and tow it home. You're only going a mile.

Thank you, Paul. Yea, the trailer frame - did I show you a photo of the trailer? ... I believe is part of a chassis off a Model A, or so I have been told. Not real stout. 1" oak deck.

I thought about the truck too. And I don't mind the dents. I would have to disassemble it in the truck bed and then use the engine hoist to lower the pieces. Something to consider. Or disassemble it on sight. The seller has a loader.

Sorry about the confusion regarding the model of tractor. I believe this is a 2N.

I like that! We're moving this in town, so my very nice chief of police might get a little grumpy with me. And unfortunately, the road runs right past his office. :)

I don't have a scale large enough or I could go measure one.
They should be within your 1000 lbs I think without the
pump, cover, fluids, etc. that you mentioned.
I put them on a pallet and move them around with forks pretty
easily. They sure are a handful to get balanced any other way!
If you have doubts, since the PTO shaft is already out to remove
the pump, it would be pretty easy to separate the trans and rear.

Also make the move early Sunday morning when most people are in bed or at church. Less road traffic.

That's a good thought re PTO shaft...disassembling it on site might be the best solution. Then I can get it all in smaller pieces. That will make it much easier to get it into the shop with the engine hoist for storage. I'll go talk to the seller and see if he's ok with me working on it on location. It's a consignment auction yard.

Thanks, Royse!!
