Hope this question isn't too dumb. If it is, I apologize.
I bought from YT all the gaskets and seals that I am supposed to need to install on the rear axles of my early ('49) 8N. (BTW, YT gave good service and shipped them out right away.)
I am not sure if the previous owner of the tractor installed all the gaskets, or installed them correctly, so I wouldn't want to necessarily duplicate what is there already.
I know how to install the seals themselves, of course, but am not sure of the correct position in which all of the gaskets are supposed to be installed, and sure would appreciate it if someone would tell me the correct sequence and locations to install them, or refer me to a diagram that will show in detail where the gaskets go. I do have the Operator's Manual and the IT service manual, but neither really seems to show in detail exactly where all the gaskets go.
The gaskets I am talking about are:
8N4225 - axle outer retainer gasket
8N4284 - axle shaft gasket
8N4290 - axle oil seal gasket, inner
9N4130 - paper shim gasket for bearing retainer
I don't know which gaskets are which, though. Two of them are cork, and a little larger in diameter than the seals themselves. Two of them are paper, and about the same diameter as the seals. Four others are paper, about 6" in diameter, and have 6 bolt holes in them. And I guess the axle shaft gasket just goes over the axle, right?
Thanks in advance.
