I just recently noticed a nesting pair of Cooper's hawks in my backyard. As a self-proclaimed bird nerd...I'm kind of excited to watch them raise a family.

Red foxes are unusual around here, too; I see grays all the time, one would come into the garden and lay under the field pea vines on hot summer days and let me get within a few feet before he would get annoyed and walk away.

A spry 80 year old friend just had a book signing two weeks ago.
He went clear across Canada in a canvas canoe. "Canadian Canoe Expedition".

One of the men with him on the trip was nicknamed Tarzan. He said that one day he was sitting on a log and a fox came out of the woods and just sat down beside him. In another photo a bird flew out of the trees and sat on his shoulder.

We had a red have a litter of kits two years running in one of our outbuildings. I have a video of one of the youngsters that I was able to get very close to (it was as curious about me as I was of it) before it saw one of our barn cats and ran off. Fun to watch!
