You do know that the transmission and the rear end are one common sump right?

The only way to measure how much oil is in there is with the dipstick on the rear end under the right side of the seat.

Another common way ist to remove the lowest bolt in that dipstick plate. Your oil level should be just up to that hole. Any oil flowing out of that hole is over fill. If you remove that round plate you'll see that the dipstick only goes down as far as that hole.

That hole in your picture is for filling that common sump only.

Yep, appears to be overfilled to me as well. Do you know where the hydraulic oil dipstick is located? If not, it's on the lower right hand side inspection cover. N-Series tractors all share the same sump for the hydraulic system and the transmission oil. Fill plug is on the top tranny cover next to the gear shift lever. 1-1/16" wrench to remove the cap. It is not a screw on/threaded part, but a lock type with tangs that grip into place sort of like your radiator cap so do not overtighten. Capacity is 5 gallons maximum however, when changing oil, only pour 3/4 gallons in at first and always go by level on dipstick and/or bolt on inspection cover. If the system isn't completely drained and flushed there is always residual oil and sludge in the system. There are three hydraulic oil drain plugs on the N tractors. Start at the rear with the 9/16" square pipe plug on the diffy case and drain that one first. Then move forward to the front of the tractor to the next large 1-1/16" drain plug for the pump sump. Then to the next transmission 1-1/16" hex plug. Both the latter have gaskets so replace those as well. The lone furthest most to the front 1-1/16" plug is for your engine oil -DO NOT REMOVE. Get copies of the I&T F-O4 Manual, a copy of the 39-53 MPC, and it wouldn't hurt to have a correct copy of the Operator's Manual too.

(quoted from post at 17:49:24 03/20/17) Are you missing the dipstick? See tip # 4. Looks like it's over filled to me. And that's not good for your brakes

When I bought my 3000 the previous owner knew the rear seals leaked . He did not know where to check the oil level . When I got it home I did some research and found where the oil level pipe plug is located . It is painted blue like all of the nut heads , etc . I pulled the plug and drained about 5 gallons of extra oil .

The rear seals still leaked a little but not like they did . I got around to changing seals and have added Ford tractor rear seals to my " not a lot of fun " list .
