I'm currently restoring an 8N simply because that is what I learned to drive on. Well the tractor had been sitting behind a barn for 10+ years because the owner said that he started noticing water in the oil. $500 later I'm the proud owner of this 8N.
I separated the engine in December and have completely rebuilt it with new sleeves and all. I also noticed that the bell housing that attaches to the engine was covered in oil and muck. Before reattaching the engine I have cleaned it completely out and to make sure that I didn't have any leaks I lowered the front end with a floor jack. Two days later I now have a puddle of hydraulic fluid coming out the end of the sleeve that the drive shaft is in... Is this normal or do I need to go ahead and rebuild the hydraulics? The hydraulic fluid is very clear making me think that the previous owner has done some work to it.... I can turn the shaft and the 3 point bars will raise up and have placed 200lbs on them and they held up for about 4 days with out a total bleed off.
