There is no doubt that it is extremely effective. Twelve years ago we had a storm where the snow came down so heavy and wet that it got ahead of the state plows on the interstate. A few days later they had to go out with highway graders to clear off the three inch thick ice. That would not have happened with brine. Another plus is that it is done on straight time and reduces OT expense. Another plus is that a lot less salt is needed saving dollars and there is less pollution of ground water. The downside is that the brine has been proven to be significantly more corrosive than salt.

Steve.........bettcha thats the town LAWYER doing CYA (cover yer A$$) against LAW SUITS. I was working at BOEING in Seattle when all of the guys started bailing at 2PM due to radio SNOW warning. Me? Having grown up in SNOWY COLORADO mountians, I didn't take the "hint". I left work at regular 4-PM time and it took me 1-hr to drive 5-miles up the hill. I finally got home (60-mi) at 10:30PM worying about running outta gasoline. I parked in the neighbors flat front yard and didn't even try to make the turn UP-HILL to my driveway. Too soon we gitt too old too smart, eh? Surprizingly enuff, I didn't try to drive to work the next day. hummm, maybe I'll go gitt me a HOT TODDY. thirsty Dell

On a clear still night, just after sunset, if you listen really close, you can hear every car in Pennsylvania rusting! PennDot sure loves spraying brine, at least up around here, but it does work pretty well.
