overruning clutch binding?

My brother was changing out the ORC on our 2N and the new one would not go in far enough for the roll pin and was binding inside the bearing housing. I had to turn .060 off the length of the ORC and the bearing housing and .015 off the OD of the coupler and the ID of the bearing housing and it fits perfectly now. Has anyone else run into a coupler that didn't fit or did we just get a bad one?
