Well I m glad I did pull the engine and pan off it today. There were several small ALUMINUM chips in the bottom of the pan just waiting to get sucked up into the system. I steam cleaned the pan and put it in the parts washer overnight. The pickup had already been brazed to the pump housing. There are holes in the pump housing for safety wire but no wire in them do you guys think I need to wire them or not. Also I would have never found the squirrels stash of nuts in the clutch housing if I hadn't pulled it apart.

I had a machinist tell me that the wiring was not necessary, but since Ford thought they were needed I wired everything that had been factory wired.

Toss the wire and use a good thread locker.

Well I figured they may already have Loctite on them and had taken a set so I didn't want to disturb them so I left them alone and ran some .030 wire through them just to be sure.
