Time to pull my carb, how to remove the linkage rods ??

It's just a little too cold out and the machine is too dirty to really see what I'm doing. Trying to pull the carb on my new to me '52 8n. I can't see how the linkage arms come off the back side of the throttle and choke arms.

How do I remove them without damaging or bending them ??

The ends of the rods have something like little hoods on them. These retainers are spring loaded. Push the hood towards the end of the rod and it move it towards the engine to pull it off the carb.

Here is what they look like.

That's fantastic. I'm used to them just popping off with a little persuasion. I used the wood handle of a wire brush to get near the joint and apply a little pressure but it wasn't going anywhere and now I see why. That picture really is worth a thousand words. I'll try hitting the joints with a little carb cleaner to blast off the dirt and try to get them to release.

Thank you so much.

That was easy getting the linkage off after seeing the photo. Had to hammer gently on it to release from the manifold but it's laying on the bench now.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the fuel tank. Clean it out and coat it or just go new ???

Check out the total cost of the tank liners.
Read the instructions. You'll probably come
to the conclusion that the $150 for a new
tank is a good deal
