Setting timing on Jubilee

Question on timing.... installed the new distributor tonight, static timed at 28 degrees then timed with light. At 29 degrees per the light at wide open, I get 21 or 22 at idle.

Still have a slight miss with gas hiccuped out the exhaust. If I set the distributor to 8 degrees at a idle, the miss goes away but I only get about 23 degrees at wide open.

The manual says that a "bad advance governor is indicated" if I can't get between 10 and 0 at idle. But everything is new.

What do I look for? Set it for wide open and have to live with idle advance? Really trying to smooth out the miss but not lose power at wide open.

Highly unlikely that your mis has anything to do with that timing variance. After market distributors do not always have proper centrifugal advance, but are generally close enough that they cause no problem, which is what your unit sounds like.

ditto what Jmor said.. besides.. you won't need that advance at idle.. but you might want it at throttle. ;)
