PTO bracket bolted to axle housing

Forum,
Have two 8Ns and plan to modify one to keep and one to sell. Both are in very good condition. Question is there is a 4 bolt plate that supports the pto as it extends out of the pumpkin. On one tractor the bracket is cracked and I have trouble screwing a pto cover on. Is it a major job to switch this bracket? Does the pto shaft have to be removed from this bracket? Any and all thoughts are welcome.

If it is the one that holds the bearing and seal, yes the PTO shaft
would have to be removed from it. Or, swap the whole shaft.
It pulls out as a unit. I like to drain the oil first and install a new
gasket when re-installing it. The oil, if good, could be re-used.

please be specific with your names.

you have said plate and bracket.. are you referring perhaps to the bearing carrier??
