Found a 2 Bottom plow, is this a decent price

I'm looking for a plow to pull behind my '52 8N.
I found this and was wondering what you guys think?

Kenockee, If that is the one in Dryden, Michigan that is a decent looking plow and worth the asking price.Looks like a Ferguson AO 2-12" and all there except the jointers,it even has cover boards on it.

Lack of traction for a pull type plow. That is what draft control is for. Could probably pull a ONE BOTTOM trailer type plow with a lot of rear wheel weight.

Why not buy/use what it is designed to use? He would be much more satisfied.

JMOR, I could not get his link to work. Looks like he is looking at getting a mounted plow, not a trailer plow. NON issue.

That's a very nice looking plow.
Would probably last for many years if taken care of.
I sold my Ferguson plow cheap because parts, when
I could find them, were not cheap. Mine needed moldboards.
That may be something to look at if you think you may
wear out or break any of the wear parts while you own it.

A pull type plow could be used but would be very impractical. I actually love pull type plows and have used then since I was a kid, They do excellent work but are harder to handle in smaller plots and are difficult to back, They take a lot of storage space. It is getting hard to find good ones and when you find a good one you pay. I would never consider using a pull type plow on an 8N. The 8N has a decent hydraulic system that will offset their other qualities and little else.

Sorry all. The link was screwed up and I can't actually see my post for some reason.

It is a Mounted Dearborn 2-12 for 275, not drag.

I do not plan to do acres and acres of plowing. Just open up a decent garden and maybe a food plot for deer. In total maybe 1-2 acres.

Your LINK doesn't work and I've tried multiple ways. How do you know it is a 12" plow? The 2-12 isn't a model number, but I will say if you are looking for a plow to work with, get a 14" 2-Bottom Plow or a 14 or 16 inch 1-bottom Plow Dearborn Economy Plow for your 8N; the N's were not designed to pull anything over 2 bottoms. Now, the early Dearborn Moldboard (Prior Model) Plows are cool for show pieces, but parts are rare as hen?s teeth, especially the 10" and 12" plows. The Dearborn Economy Plows are your best bet or even a later FORD 101 Plow. Think 14?. Economy Plow parts are available, but again the 10? and 12? are almost obsolete. The Dearborn Model 10-156 is a popular 14? plow. The Economy Plow was a huge improvement over the Prior Model Plow. Price depends on condition. I use to pay on average $250 for a Dearborn Plow but it had to be complete, that is, with coulters and jointers, maybe coverboards and moldboard extensions, weed hooks optional, but a must is the rolling landside (tailwheel) otherwise you won't plow worth a hill of beans, pun intended. Here are some charts from the original Dearborn Plow Master Parts Catalog?email me for a LINK to more information. Also, here are a few photos of my early 1948 8N with my Dearborn Model 10-8 (12?) Plow.

FYI:
Dearborn Prior Model Plows ? 10-10 = 10?; 10-8 = 12?; and 10-1 = 14?

Tim,

I was only going off the title of the ad as far as the model number. Yes it is at Rosy Brothers. I am new to tractors and implements so excuse my ignorance.

Kenockee 8N,Yes that is a good looking plow for 275.00 I saw it but did not want to post a working link to it as someone else could jump on it and buy it out from under you.

Tim, Yeh that the plow and I didn't want to post a link so someone even if they were close to it could go and buy it out from under Kenockee 8N.

All righty now, here ya go -click on da LINK to see what we're talking about. First, it is NOT a Dearborn plow. It is an earlier Ferguson-Sherman Plow. So ditto on parts availability for these babies too. The dealer is Rosy Bros in Dryden, MI and I know them very well. Not a bad price for an early F-S plow and it has coulters and moldboard extensions. It should be painted Ford Dark Grey, not Dearborn Vermillion Red. If the FORD script logo is cast in the mainframe, even better. This would be an excellent piece to have on your 9N or 2N tractor.

Update...

It was a little rougher than in the pictures. I ended up picking up a much nicer Dearborn 10-156 for not that much more with almost new moldboads and much nicer coulters.

Got it home, unloaded and hooked onto the back of the N already. Now I need the ground to dry out and give it a try.
