Hey when I pull my choke out to start my tractor it won't stay out . As soon as I let go it goes right back in.Is this normal its mt first tractor.

There is almost *NO* circumstance where you would want to leave the choke fully on while running the starter... like 3 seconds max.... The way you are, you're good to go......

Yes, they are spring loaded to the off position.
It should take little more than a tug of the choke once
the engine is rolling over to get it to fire and start.
Possibly a feather of partial choke for a few seconds
if it is really cold out. These are updraft carbs on the N's.

Other brands with different carbs work differently.
Still, washing the oil off the cylinder walls with extra
gas doesn't seem like a good idea if it can be avoided.

Um...I assume you've never tried to start an NAA when it is -20 to -30. 3 seconds of choke isn't enough. In fact if I remember correctly, you probably won't get that Ford to start at all then.

I know its not an NAA, but if I leave my choke out for 3 seconds, no matter what the temperature, I've flooded my 8n. I don't need but half choke for a few revolutions before she's fired up.

Thanks everybody now I know that the way the choke works like I said first tractor ever. This is a great place to get some answers
