Hydraulic pump question

Hi all. Been while since I last posted. Hope this finds all you experts well & happy!

1947 8N hydraulic pump failure, the scotch yokes (both) took a pounding and shattered into pieces. Don't know what caused this, could have been a PUE (Probable User Error) when I last assembled the tractor from a split.

Now, the question is, how far should I go in making repairs? The pump is out and sitting on my bench (not pumping). Should I just replace the scotch yokes & cylinders, or should I get a repair kit and replace more stuff? I see no other damage or problems, but...

Apprecate any & all helpful advice! Thanks ya all.

Thanks Tom for the suggestion, but that's not going to happen. The rest of the pump looks ok, and I don't feel like spending 500+ for parts not needed. I'm thinking of new scotch yokes and gaskets. I'll take apart the rest of the pump and replace any warn parts.

I was hoping for more suggestions, but I'll accept whatever I get.

Thanks!

So if your mind is made up, order the parts and go for it..be sure to get
complete new chambers as well as the yokes, and other guts unless u plan to
do a half cobbled up rebuild..I'd like to know what made it self destruct
the first time? Will it do it again? Your guess is as good as anyones..go
for it..

Not that far, Wayne, near Moscow. I spend a lot of time at the VA in Iowa City. Is that $100 each, or $100 for both?

Tom, I don't know what caused the destruction of the yokes. I had split the tractor for trans repairs, and after reassembly the PTO shifter would not move and PTO was working. Couldn't shut it off. I might have caused the damage reinstalling the PTO shaft (hense the PUE).

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!

My grandfather used to have a Ford tractor and car dealership in What Cheer. Closed in the 70's. Still have relatives in the area. Good to see Fords still being used there!

Spent quit a bit of time in What Cheer in the mid 50s. Not necessarily looking at cars or tractors though. Can't for the life of me come up with the Ford dealer name. I believe the Chevy dealer's name was Hemsley Maybe? email is open
