Touch question

Hey Forum Chums....hope everyone is doing well....I have an older set of Craftsman welding torches...Model 313.54303 to be precise...cutting tip finally needs replacement...went to a welding store....no luck....anybody have an idea where to procure tips for this older unit??

Any other numbers on them Ed?
I did a quick search and that comes up as the regulator for me.
SearsPartsDirect is fairly good at listing the part numbers.
Then I do a search on the part number.

That's what I was going to say Sears never made any of their stuff. Just take it to a welding supply store and see if they can match it. Is it a cutting tip or a welding tip?

Do you have a pic of it my fear is that it may well be an old Marquette torch and you may find a 57 Edsel easier than tips for that torch.

I work at welding supply, I will tell you that more than likely Sears didn't make the torch, someone manufactured it for them. It could be a Harris, Smith, or a Victor style torch. Also it could be a 100 or 300 series (small or large tip). Bring it in to your welding supply and have them compare it to one of those, if you can post a picture of the tip part under the tip nut I might be able to tell you. If your around Palestine Texas stop in my store I'll fix ya up.

Thanks for your input Chums....I will post a picture...Lawson...the number on the tip is 2 56 62....It is very close to an Airco tip...but the new tip has a slightly larger diameter..might drill out the retaining nut...lol...the guy at the Welding Store just wants to sell me new torches

Sir....would you be willing to give
it a shot if I sent you the tip?..no
problem at all if that would be a
hassle...this looks to be an orphan
unit....

Lawson...did check out Sears...some
stuff is still available....but no
tips that I saw...go
figure...lol..but I can replace a
regulator for the torch I cant find
a tip for....lmao

Why not just get a tip cleaner and clean it. They are only 6 or 8 bucks at the welding house or is it totally melted or something

(quoted from post at 14:03:47 02/23/17) Its past helping

I've had luck resurrecting an old bad torch tip by cutting of a small section at the tip, then running tip cleaners through all the holes

I just bought a replacement tip for my Craftsman torch... it is a Harris tip. Depending on what number size you want it should be very simple to find a replacement.

Unless it has been used as a hammer you can usually file the end square and clean, run tip cleaners through them and they are just fine. The only ones I have ever seen that couldn't be saved had either been used AS a hammer or had a hammer used on them. Worked my way through college as a welder in a shipyard and some of the old timers had torch tips they had used for 30 years or more
