So the 8N front mount distributor rotates CCW, looking at the cap from the front, and the 1243 is so marked. Does the 8N side mount rotate CW or CCW, looking down at the cap. And does the 600 series rotate the same way as the side mount 8N? Looking at the archives, there are conflicting statements about the 600 series. Finally, while it can be changed if the distributor has been pulled, in the side mount distributors as they came from the factory, is the #1 nipple upper right, or closest to the #1 plug? Thanks.

oth front & side rotation is CCW, but 600 is CW. #1 positioned pointing to right front cylinder head bolt.
