If it's metal, ANYTHING is replaceable with a torch and welder.

only if you HAVE a torch and a welder. I welded once in my life and that was at ft. Leonard wood mo. 1969. (about 30 minutes)

if you own horses or cows, you need to own feed and hay, otherwise life is tougher.

If you own old metal tractors.... owning a torch and welder is needed.. otherwise life is tougher..

Or have a friendly neighbor that has them. I mow his property and he takes care of all my blacksmith needs.

with some 1/8 6010 some sheet steel and a cutting torch anything is possible

I don't see having to replace the side plates. Just weld an extension on them. Just some sheet steel and a lap joint would do it.
