It was a productive day. I'm including one for those who need
a new way to route their radiator hose through their alternator
mount. Not that I would recommend it, but here it is.

This must be remove your radiator in Michigan week. I have the 871 radiator out and at the shop to fix a leak where the tank joins the core. Cleaned everything up and new hoses while access is good. Here's a couple of questions for you guys.

How come one blade on the fan is different than the other two? If you look at the pic, the blade at the 5 o'clock position is smaller, and shaped differently. This doesn't appear to be damage or modified from what I can tell. Also, does anyone know how much clearance should be between the fan and the axle by the pivot point? I've got like maybe 1/4" at the most. The pivot bushing doesn't have hardly any wear or excess movement on it and I'm pretty sure it's the correct fan and water pump.

Interesting side note: I noticed that Ford designed the mounting holes for the radiator so the bolt on the generator side can be used to pivot the radiator into place. There is a slot for the hold down bolt on the distributor side, and I'm pretty sure this is to make it easier to swing the radiator in toward the upper and lower hoses on the assembly line.

Works great. Just serviced it last summer. If it ever quits, I know a couple of guys on this board that could be kidnapped and kept out in the barn on beer and pretzels til it's fixed. ????
