now I can take dist. cap and wires off all in one piece without worrying which wires go where when I put em back on.

I have different colours of electrical tape cut in thin strips and wrapped around each wire. 1 strip for #1, 2 for #2, etc.
Plastic bread bag "ties" work well for ID'ing wires, as well.
They're FREE, and compact, and easy to write on.
