A little weather protection idea

Since Calif. is getting so much rain lately, I made these covers for the gear shift levers. They will also keep the sun off the rubber in the hot summer.

The other parts I don't want to get wet are protected with sheet aluminum as you see in the third pic.

They don't sell a plain cap to fit that white pipe that I already had but they did sell a plug with another threaded plug in it that did fit them.

Looks good, now you an find a cure for real moisture problem, condensation.
My tractors are in a covered shed and they still get water in them, I went out a week or so ago and all three was covered in moisture, I recon the inside was the same.

Sorry, I don't think we have much of that problem here in Southern California. But, we do have a lot of harsh sunlight. That's mainly why I thought of those gear shift covers, to protect the rubber from sun rot.

I was not thinking about sunlight damage, what sun by the way? Do you cover your tires? I did see the sun a bit ago, before the clouds came back, at least it stopped raining.
I drove down your way a few years ago and the day I left it was raining and rained all the way to Portland.

"What sun"? I do think we get a bit more sun than you do up there. I have thought about making some kind of covers for the rear tires but that's one of those things I never get around to doing.

I put a brand new spring suspension seat on the MF202. I put a big lawn and leaf bag over it to keep the weather off of it. Three days later when I took the bag off, a mouse had chewed three dime size holes in it. No more plastic cover.

Now I just put a big piece of plywood over it that rests on the seat and the steering wheel. At least it keeps most of the rain and sun off of it.

'JIM caps' are handy and cheap for a situation like that unless you got an odd ball size pipe there. Just a suggestion.
