Foot Throttle

I gave the new MF202 Workbull a good workout the other day moving dirt with the box blade on it. I had to re route a water run off channel where I wanted it to go.

Anyway, I found that the foot throttle in conjunction with the box blade made the job a lot easier. I could just keep my hand on the lift lever and my other hand on the steering wheel spinner. Yeah since getting that MF with the power steering on it, I put a spinner on it which also makes it easier to work with.

Anyway, I'd heard of foot throttle kits for the 8N but never really thought about doing it. I wish I'd have known how much easier a foot throttle makes things on a tractor. If I had known, I would have tried to find one of those kits.

I won't be putting one on the 8N now because it will be my dedicated mowing tractor and doesn't really need a foot throttle for that. If you can find one of those foot throttle kits for your 8N I would strongly recommend it.

Red Rock Mfg offers foot feeds for 9N/2N, 8N and Jubilee/600/800. I have an original on my '52 8N loader and forget to use it.
Too many years not having it is habit still not broken. I also have one for my Jubilee but not installed yet. I have a loader to
install on it.

I've built a few over the years and convenient to use on the SOS
and on other tractors. Handy for skidding timber.

(quoted from post at 15:31:47 02/10/17) I have had a foot throttle on mine for about
10 years now so am used to having it and use
it a lot. It is a very handy option.

Don't you mean it's a very footy option?

Sorry, I couldn't resist it. :D

I have a Long 460 road tractor that has a foot throttle and a fully synchronized transmission. A lot of fun and fast!

You forget to use it....I assume this means if you install a foot control the hand control is still connected and the speed will stay where you set the hand control.

That's pretty much it.
Set the hand throttle at say, 1000 rpm and the engine wont go below that. But step on the foot pedal and you can rev the engine to any rpm above the hand setting.
As was said earlier, i don't use the foot pedal for mowing or discing where you want constant rpm.
But with a back blade where you're doing a lot of back and forth it works good. Or backing up to an implement. Hand throttle at idle, rev up with your foot to quickly back up close, then back off to inch the last couple of feet.
Often, you have one hand on the wheel and one hand on the lift handle so you can increase/decrease speed with your foot.
Mine will rev a couple hundred rpms higher with the foot pedal than the hand throttle too. Nice when you're in a hurry coming in from a job and have a cold one waiting for you.

I do not have one on my 2N but would like one..The only problem I think I might have is the foot rest location..

You can also switch from foot to hand control at any time even midstream. I'll be pulling heavy logs up an incline and the front end will get a little light so switch to hand throttle and steer with the brakes without skipping a beat.
