front mount spark plug wiring

I have a 2N that the fan belt chews through the wires where they come out of the distributor. My manual doesn't show any direction for the wires, and I just got another set from Herschel's in Indianola. My tractor never had the 'tube' that I see in a couple picture; where would I get such a thing, or is there a way to avoid it? Thanking in advance

I use a cable tie to hold the 1 & 2 wires to the coil bail. That keeps them out of harm's way. The only source for the tube would be a used one. Try ebay. It is not really necessary.

You could use one of the small brackets that attach to the timing gear cove and hold the wires away from the fan belt. You can see it in the picture.

The bracket Del is referring to is sold here on YT for $5.
Cheaper than new wires! [b:38f3c32eaa]Bracket[/b:38f3c32eaa]

i like the gray with the black "trim" - never seen that before, looks sharp, del :)

Thanks for the info, Royse and Del. HCooke, that's exactly what I did. Now 3 & 4-do they use that same bracket? Changing/adjusting points would be an issue with the wire ties.

Three and four just had the tube. No other bracket that I know of.
If you want that tube, I may have one. I'd have to go look.
A lot of them got trashed because it is a pain to feed the wires
through them, but they could easily be zip tied to the outside of it.

Does your generator belt run straight from the front pulley on the engine to the generator pulley? If not, you might have the generator pulley on backwards. It is offset, and if installed backwards the belt will hit the plug wires where they leave the distributor cap.

Do you have a stock generator, pulley , and brackets ? I have an alternator and small pulley with a homemade bracket that looks like the ones on the market ? It pivots on the bolt in the timing cover . Rotated all the way down and it gives a lot of clearance to the distributor but it is close to the tie rod . Rotated all the way up and you have good clearance on the tie rod but the belt almost touches the spark plug wires .
